The etched work of Soulages is limited, rare, only 43 etchings. In 1972 he stopped painting for 2 years, devoted all his time to works on paper and realised 14 etchings.
As an important representative of the Second School of Paris, Soulages is considered the greatest French painter of his generation and has received recognition worldwide.
